GEO — AI Search Optimisation
Shaping how AI search describes your business — not just whether it cites you, but whether it recommends you when someone asks who to use.
Generative search does more than answer direct questions. It compares options, summarises categories and makes recommendations, often about businesses that never appear as a named citation. If an assistant is telling buyers in your market which three firms to consider, the question is whether you are one of them and whether the description is accurate.
GEO is the work of making sure the material these systems learn from represents you correctly and completely. It is newer and less predictable than SEO, and we will be straightforward about the parts nobody can yet measure precisely.
What's included
Baseline of what AI currently says
What ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews say today about your business, your competitors and your category — including where they are wrong about you.
Correcting the record
Wrong descriptions usually trace back to a source: an outdated directory, a stale profile, a competitor comparison page. We find the source and fix it rather than guessing at prompts.
Comparison and category content
Genuinely useful comparison and "best of" content, which is disproportionately what generative systems draw on when asked to recommend.
Presence beyond your own site
Industry directories, review platforms and communities that these models weight heavily — earned properly, not spammed.
Re-checking on a schedule
Model behaviour changes without notice. This is monitored work rather than a one-off project, and we say so up front.
Who this is for
- Businesses in considered-purchase markets where buyers research before contacting anyone
- Companies an AI assistant currently describes inaccurately, or omits from its shortlist
- Brands whose competitors are being recommended by name and want to understand why
Common questions
No. These systems are non-deterministic, their training and retrieval change without notice, and nobody can guarantee a recommendation. What we can do is remove the reasons you are currently invisible or misrepresented, and measure whether mentions improve. Anyone promising a guaranteed AI recommendation is selling something they cannot deliver.
For some businesses, yes, and we will tell you if yours is one. It is worth doing now if your buyers are researchers — considered purchases, B2B, professional services — where people ask an assistant before they ask a supplier. If your customers find you by walking past, spend the money on local search instead.
They share most of the underlying work, so doing both together costs far less than twice one. If budget is tight, AEO first: being citable is the foundation, and being recommended is much harder without it.
